President of Career Club

Bob Goodwin is the president of Career Club, the company he founded. His work helps people bring meaning to their careers, whether they are senior executives stewarding the next chapter of their leadership or professionals working through a career transition. He is also the author of Making Your Own Weather, a complete job search system that grew out of two decades of coaching thousands of professionals through that experience.

Bob is a frequent author and presenter at SHRM, the world's largest human resources organization, including at the SHRM Annual Conference. He hosted The Work Wire podcast with SHRM CEO Johnny C. Taylor Jr. He is a LinkedIn Top Voice and a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council. He has served on the advisory board of Per Scholas since 2022, and on the board of CincySHRM, where he chairs the Programming Committee. Through these relationships, he is in regular dialogue with the CHROs, organizational psychologists, and leading academics shaping how work, leadership, and meaning are being redefined, and that proximity informs the coaching he brings to clients.

The coaching is organized around five anchors: purpose, agency, wholeness, principles, and resilience. The through-line across all of them is a single idea: we cannot give what we do not have. A leader who is replenishing across all four constituent elements (heart, soul, mind, and strength) gives more to more people more often, and continues to grow in the giving.

Before founding Career Club, Bob spent twenty-five years in the C-suite as a B2B sales executive and consultant. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Career Club has helped me in my level of confidence in myself, what I am worth, and how to get the most out of my approach to finding my dream job. I will never go back to the outdated approach of search, apply, receive no responses, repeat. Career Club was a gentle nudge to get comfortable using a new level of tools, processes, and approaches. This program has a direct correlation to finding my new position. I am forever grateful.

[Career Club] really made me evaluate the approach I was taking to my job transition. His experience gave me a level of comfort and trust I needed during the process. He encouraged me to think "out of the box" and look at things from a different angle. I also learned additional key points and skills that I applied to my career transition. I consider Bob a true professional and would recommend him as a valuable asset in your career transition needs.

Working with Career Club helped me to identify my strengths, differentiate myself from others. Making Your Own Weather has helped me through my last two career changes. Whether you need to or want to leave your current position, I know firsthand how stressful the process can be. Career Club helped to break down the walls of the dreaded job search process. Their methods not only gave me the ability to choose my own path versus letting others dictate my next move, but it has also taught me skills that transcend the transition process.
